Gala Dinner Tasting Menu Invitations: Real Prices
Ask for two quotes, menu only and with wine pairing, before you pick a room. Here is what moves the bill and what belongs on the invitation.

Two quotes land in your inbox for the same gala dinner. Same room, same Saturday, same guest list. One is a five-course menu with the wine priced by the bottle. The other is nine courses with a pairing poured at every course, plus two extra hours of bar. Somewhere along the way both got called a tasting menu, and neither venue is lying.
Gala dinner tasting menu invitations look identical on a phone screen, so the difference has to show up somewhere else: in the courses, the wine and the hours of room and staff you are buying. See those three lines clearly and you can compare two venues without guessing.
Gala Dinner Tasting Menu Prices: What Actually Moves the Bill
A five-course menu and a nine-course menu can share the same room, the same kitchen and the same team. What changes is how many times plates leave the pass, how much seasonal produce is on them, and how long the room stays open. Ask for both versions in writing before you choose. Wine is the line that grows fastest: almost nobody quotes the menu alone and the menu with pairing side by side unless you ask for it. And the clock matters. A dinner that starts at 9pm and ends at 1am pays fewer hours of room and staff than one that opens at 7.30pm with a long aperitif.
- Price per cover with the menu alone, and the same figure with the wine pairing, on two separate lines.
- Whether service, tax and water are included or added at the end.
- The minimum number of covers, and the exact cost if two guests drop out at the last minute.
- The hour the bar closes, the rate per extra hour of room or staff, and what the room already includes: sound, linen, set-up time, cloakroom.
How to Ask for a Quote Without It Inflating
Ask for the breakdown per cover on a single page: menu, drinks, service, room, extras. If all you get is one round total, you cannot compare two venues with any judgement. You are comparing a number to a feeling.
Then ask the awkward things in the same email. What happens if two people drop out the day before? From what hour is the bar billed as an extra? Are service and tax inside the price or on top of it? Keep these on your sheet from day one: an open bar is billed by the hour and per person, so a bar running until 4am with the room closing at 1am moves the total more than another course. Flowers and cake usually sit outside the kitchen budget. If they are not written down, they show up the week of the dinner.

Three numbers decide the bill: how many courses, whether the wine is paired, and how long the bar stays open. Everything else is decoration.
What Goes on the Invitation and What Stays Off It
Time, place, a map link, the dress code and the hour the bar closes. That is the list. Black tie or cocktail tells people the level of the evening without printing a single figure. You do not need to publish what the menu costs. One line in the dinner scene saying whether the bar is open or drinks are paid separately answers the should-I-bring-cash message before it arrives. If someone has an allergy or does not drink, they write to you and you pass it on to the venue. The invitation deals with the when, the where and what to wear.
When the Quote Changes, the Invitation Doesn't
If the menu goes from five courses to seven, or the venue moves dinner half an hour later, you edit the invitation and the link stays the same. Nobody gets a second message asking them to ignore the first. The RSVPs arrive inside the invitation in one ordered list, so you confirm the number of covers with data instead of memory. It is 29.99 EUR, paid once, no subscription: your own web page for the event, up to six of your own photos, music and confirmation questions you set yourself. It opens in any browser, with nothing to install. Fix the price with the venue first, then send the invitation that matches it.
