Five years of marriage deserves more than a group-chat message. What to put on a wood anniversary invitation, and why a link beats paper.

Someone in the group chat asks what you're doing for your fifth anniversary. Wood wedding anniversary invitations rarely start like this, but that's how it usually goes: a restaurant suggestion, a maybe, and a friend who says you don't need invitations at all, just a message. Then nothing happens for two weeks.

Five years is your wood anniversary, and it's the first one where the wedding stops being the whole story. By now there's a flat, a routine, a dog, a kitchen you argue in. If you're stuck on what to give on a wood anniversary, the answer is usually time in the same room. An invitation is how you ask for it, and a digital one lets you fix the details after you've already sent it.

Wood wedding anniversary invitations: five years is not a second wedding

Use the fifth anniversary as a reason to get the people who watched you two grow into one room — not to replay the wedding. If it's a dinner for twenty, the invitation needs the minimum done properly: the time, the address with a map, and one sentence that says what the evening is for. If it's just the two of you at a corner table, the invitation still earns its place: it opens on a phone as a walk through five years, one photo per stage.

  • A short label you can read on a phone screen without zooming: “Five years of us.”
  • Date, time and place with a map, because five years on, nobody remembers where the wedding was.
  • One line with a memory in it: where you met, the first flat, that Friday restaurant.
  • A cover photo and up to five more spread across the scenes, one per stage.

Colour first, typography second

Start with the palette: walnut, oak or mahogany as the base, then sage green, terracotta or off-white for the text. The tone does the wood — not a drawn grain. A dark walnut background with a thin serif in off-white reads cleanly on a phone in sunlight. A heavy grain texture behind a short name turns to smudge. Test it with real words: a spaced-out “Our five years” across the top, your names in a light serif, the date small underneath. If the label carries more weight than the names, the balance is off.

Photos carry the texture. Choose a cover shot where you both appear, even from behind, then give one photo to each scene: the wedding, the flat, a trip, the dog, the anniversary dinner itself. When the wedding photos are poor, a detail beats a blurry shot — rings on a hand, a half-cut cake, shoes on wet grass. You can upload up to six in total and swap any of them later without touching the rest.

Wood is a colour and a set of photos, not a texture your guests have to squint through.

If the restaurant moves your table from 9:00 to 9:30, you edit the invitation and the same link shows the new time — nobody gets a correction message. Set the RSVP to what you can actually keep on top of: how many are coming, plus one open line. The replies collect in a list inside the invitation, so you skip the “are you two coming or not?” round on the Thursday. Guests install nothing: they open the link, look through the scenes and answer from their phone in a minute. It's €29.99 as a one-off payment, and you can keep editing after you publish. Try the design free, then publish once the names and the date sit right.
