Five years married, and someone asks what you're doing to mark it. You picture the patio at your parents' house, the long table, the friends who drove hours to the wedding. Then you open a browser and start pricing tablecloths, because that's how the money actually goes.

Wood anniversary invitations are usually the last thing anyone prices, and that's the mistake. On paper they're the only line you pay for twice: once to print, once to post, and again the moment you move the start time or change the venue.

Wood anniversary invitation prices: five lines, not one

Before you ask anyone for a quote, write five lines on the back of an envelope: the space, the food, the drinks, the music, and what goes on the table — cloth, candles, glasses. Then add a sixth line called things I forgot. That's the one that swallows the money.

  • The space, the food, the drinks, the music, and what sits on the table: cloth, candles, glasses.
  • A sixth line called what I forgot: ice, a lift home for whoever isn't driving, the tip at the bar when nobody's watching the bill.
  • Extra copies for the cousin who lost the first one in a kitchen drawer, and a second envelope to an address he moved out of years ago.
  • The wood frame for the photo of your five years — worth pricing, easy to leave out.

Wood costs you twice: the print run and the postage

A card with a wood finish, or an engraved plate, is priced per unit. Ask for a quote at 60 copies and again at 80, and look at what each extra one adds. Then think about what happens when the plan shifts: a different hour, a new venue, a dress code you hadn't settled. Each of those means a fresh print run, and the same sentence gets paid for twice.

Postage is a separate line. Thick card weighs more, and every old address is another stamp and another phone call. If someone wants something in their hand, the sensible combination is a link for everyone plus a few printed copies for the people who will actually keep them.

Five years of wood deserves an invitation you can still fix the morning of the party.

Ask for a wish, not a gift — and write it down

Say it in the invitation instead of hoping people guess. The kicker line is the place: 'Five years of wood. Your being there is the gift — leave us a wish.' Then add a confirmation question such as 'What wish do you leave us?' so the answer arrives when they reply, not three days later by WhatsApp. Keep the wishes and read a couple out at the toast. That's the gift that doesn't end up in a closed box.

What's inside the €29.99 digital invitation

€29.99, paid once, no subscription. You get a web page of your own with a link and a QR code, music, up to six photos, and a text field for each piece of information: kicker, names, date, phrase and place. Confirmations arrive inside the same invitation as one ordered list. Guests install nothing — they open the link in the browser on their phone and answer from there. You can edit after you send and the link stays the same, so a new time, a different venue, a map or a dress code reaches everyone without a second message.

Pick a design, test the cover without paying, and publish once the date and the time are settled. Five years of wood deserves an invitation that opens on a phone and a wish that gets read out loud.
