Twin birthday invitations: the one-name mistake

One name on the link and the other twin is already a guest at their own party. How to write the label, choose the cover and keep both names on the RSVP list.

The invitation lands in the class group on a Tuesday evening. The header says Marta's Birthday. Someone replies within a minute: what about Leo? Two children, one party, one cake — and that is how most twin birthday invitations go wrong before anyone has lit a candle.

It is not a slip that fixes itself later. Whoever forwards that link into the family group forwards the missing name with it. In the editor the header and the name fields are separate things: put Marta and Leo's Birthday at the top, and both full names in their own fields underneath. That is the version everyone copies from.

Twin birthday invitations: the label decides who is invited

The same rule covers twins and multiples of any kind, and it applies to a double birthday invitation too. Read the page the way a parent reads it: anywhere a name shows up, both names should show up. Most of the fixing happens in three fields — the label, the name fields and the line about the date.

  • Check that both names appear in the header, in the name fields and on the cover photo before you send anything.
  • Keep one official version of the time and place: the one on the invitation, not the one in a forwarded message.
  • Choose a cover where both children are equally sharp and carry the same weight in the frame.
  • Rewrite the birthday line if it only fits one of them: Leo turns seven, Marta turns seven, one day and two candles.

The cover photo decides who blows first

A photo where one twin is sharp and the other is a blurred profile turns the second one into a guest at their own birthday. Look for a shared action shot instead: the two of them blowing the same cake, pulling the same piece of confetti, hands side by side on the table. If one wants dinosaurs and the other wants unicorns, a neutral background with two decorative photos reads better than both sets of icons fighting in the same corner. You can upload up to six photos of your own — cover and decorative — so there is no need to choose between one portrait and the other. Any photo can be swapped later, and you mark which one is the cover.

Timing is where group chats go wrong most often. If the new start time only exists in one message, someone turns up at 5pm when the cake is at 6pm. Edit the invitation and the link stays the same: anyone who already opened it sees the updated time, place, map or dress code, with nothing to reprint and no second message to send.

Confirmations: one list where both names fit

Replies arrive inside the invitation as an ordered list instead of getting lost between stickers and voice notes in the group chat. You set the questions the form asks — who is coming and how many of you is usually enough — so nobody has to be chased on WhatsApp the night before. Grandparents open the link in a phone browser and answer without installing anything, which is normally the step that stalls a confirmation. You can try the design for free and edit the cover before paying; publish with one button once both names are in place. A Send The Joy invitation costs 29,99 EUR as a one-time payment, and you can edit it as often as you like without resending the link.
