Twin birthday invitations with two separate friend lists

One template and two links let each twin invite their own friends, with their own time and their own replies. Here is how to set it up without mixing the lists.

You ask each twin for a guest list and get two answers that barely touch. Mateo writes down 14 names. Lucas writes 12. Four of them appear on both lists. That is how twin birthday invitations with different friends turn into a puzzle: one Saturday afternoon, one cake, and two groups of kids who have never met.

The answer is not a bigger party or a diplomatic compromise between two nine-year-olds. It is one design and two links. Same day, same address, same cake. Two guest lists that never get mixed up, and two sets of replies you can read at a glance.

First, decide whether it's one party or two

Ask each twin who they would invite if the other one were not in the room. If the two lists match on less than half the names, they are not one party with a few extra guests. They are two groups who happen to share a birthday and a set of parents. Forcing them into a single invitation means somebody spends the afternoon translating between two rooms.

  • Ask each twin in the schoolyard, out loud, who they would invite. If fewer than half the names match, you have two groups, and one list will only create a queue at the door.
  • Two parties don't have to mean two days. Share the cake at 6pm and split only the park hour: one group at 4:30, the other at 5:30.
  • If one is 'the curly-haired one' in 4B and the other is 'the one on the right' in 4C, their friends already live in different worlds. The link is the only thing you need to duplicate, not the birthday.
  • Keep the same address for both groups, so a parent dropping off two kids in one afternoon isn't crossing town twice.

Start with one design from the collection. Duplicate it in Joy Studio and change only the label: 'Mateo's Birthday' on the teal version, 'Lucas's Birthday' on the coral one. Date and address stay identical on both pages, because you don't want a parent calling to ask which Saturday they are invited to.

Photos do most of the separating. You can use up to 6: each twin on the cover of their own link, plus two or three shared decorative shots — the cake, the dog, the garden — so both invitations clearly belong to the same afternoon. Change the phrase and the music per twin. The final scene can be identical, with the same photo of the two of them blowing out the candles.

One design, two links, two clean guest lists. The birthday stays shared; only the invitations split.

What deserves paper and what doesn't

Print three or four copies of the cover for the grandparents and for anyone who keeps things in a drawer. Everyone else gets the link or the QR code. Don't print 30 cards with names and times on them: the names live inside the invitation, and if you spell one wrong you fix it in the editor and the link updates itself.

Two RSVP lists you don't have to chase

Confirmations arrive inside each invitation, in an ordered list. You can see how many children are coming with Mateo and how many with Lucas without scrolling through WhatsApp. Set the questions that are actually useful — 'are you staying for the snacks or just the cake?' or 'who is bringing you?' — instead of a yes/no that tells you nothing.

Build each twin's cover in test mode, free, and look at the two links side by side. When the labels and the times are right, publish for €29.99: one payment, no subscription.
