Two names, one party, and nobody left as the plus-one. How to write, order and send a twin birthday invitation with both kids on it.

Last spring, Mateo spent his own birthday party handing out invitations that said 'Leo's Birthday'. His name wasn't on them anywhere. His grandmother asked twice whether it was his birthday too. That's the mistake a twin birthday invitation makes most often: one child gets top billing and the other gets treated as the plus-one.

You don't fix it with a bigger design or a longer message. You fix it in the name field. Both kids go in it, in the order you've agreed for this year, and the rest of the invitation follows from there.

A twin birthday invitation has room for two names

The name field is a single text box and it takes 'Leo and Mateo' without splitting into two lines. So write both names. Never 'Leo + guest' — that turns your son into someone's companion for the afternoon. If Leo went first last year, open with Mateo this year and mention the swap at home, so it looks like a decision and not an oversight. If you call them 'the twins' or 'L and M' at home, put that on the cover sign and keep the full names in the details. And if one of them arrived first, use the minute: 'Leo, 11:41 pm · Mateo, 11:47 pm' turns a note from the delivery room into the running joke at the table.

  • Both names in the name field, in the order you picked for this year.
  • The nickname you actually use at home on the cover sign, the full names in the details.
  • Their birth times, if they differ by minutes: 'Leo, 11:41 pm · Mateo, 11:47 pm'.
  • The link opened on your own phone before you send it, so you see what the families see.

Decide how the cake works before the party does

If it's one party, the sign reads 'Leo and Mateo's Birthday'. An invitation that names one child gets a WhatsApp that same afternoon asking about the other. If you'd rather run two separate parties, that's two invitations with two links: same design, different cover photo, different time, so no family turns up at the wrong one.

Put the cake time and the finish time in the date fields, like 'Cake at 6pm, home by 8'. Parents plan the afternoon around the cake, not the start. Two short fields save you a dozen messages, and they're the reason two grandmothers don't show up two hours apart.

Write both names in the same field and nobody spends the party asking who the other one is.

The cover photo doesn't pick sides

Leave out the shot where one child looks at the camera and the other is turned away or blurred, even if it's your favorite. The cover decides who everyone sees first. Keep the decorative photos symmetrical: one scene with Leo, one with Mateo, same framing, same size, same background. Photos drop into the frame on their own, so you can upload the sofa shot without cropping it by hand — check in the preview that both faces land inside the center.

The replies land in one list, not in the group chat

Set the RSVP questions to what you actually need: 'How many of you are coming?' and 'Will you make it for cake?' Guests open the link in a browser on a phone, nothing to install, and the answers collect in one ordered list inside the invitation. You count chairs and cake portions on one screen instead of scrolling a thread. Say it on the last scene: 'No need to confirm on WhatsApp — the link does it.'

Forgot to mention they should come in blue? Edit it, publish again, and the link you already sent stays the same with the new version behind it. Try a design for free, put both names on the sign and look at it before you pay. When it's ready, one button publishes it and the replies arrive on their own. 29.99 EUR once, for one party with two guests of honor.
