Sunday Wedding Invitations: How to Get the Yes

On the Monday after you send the invitation, four replies are in and ten people are still thinking. The four live close by. The ten are doing sums: the last train home, who covers the school run, how they will feel at their desk the next morning.

None of them are saying no. They are waiting for information. A Sunday wedding is not harder to fill than a Saturday one. It just asks guests different questions.

Why a Sunday wedding is decided on Monday

Saturday guests check one thing: are we free? Sunday guests check four: the journey home, the Monday morning, the sleep they will lose and whether they need to book a room. Leave two of those unanswered and 'we'll let you know' is the honest reply.

  • Start and end times in numbers — '3pm to 9pm', not 'in the afternoon'.
  • What happens after the ceremony: lunch, a farewell brunch or one last dance, each with the exact time beside it.
  • Where to stay on the Saturday night and what time to check out on the Sunday.
  • Whether children are invited, until what time, and where they will sit.

Sunday wedding invitations live or die on the end time

Nobody accepts because of a nicely written paragraph. They accept when they can picture the day and work out how to get home. The end time settles most of it: there is a last train or there is not, Monday needs a plan or it does not, a hotel room is worth it or it is not.

So put the shape of the day on the cover. '3pm ceremony, 6pm dinner, 10pm last dance' reads in three seconds. If your Sunday is a long lunch instead, say that too: 'lunch at 1pm, no dancing' changes what people wear and whether they come. Add up to six photos and a track you both like, and the page stops looking like a form. When a time moves, you edit the field in the invitation: the link stays the same and guests see the updated version.

Give your guests the end time and you have given them the one thing they need to say yes.

Ask for an answer by a date, not 'soon'

Sunday weddings close their numbers earlier, so ask for a reply with a real date on it — 'by 5 May' — and say in one line why that date matters. Replies arrive inside the invitation, in one ordered list, so nothing has to be rebuilt from screenshots of a group chat. Set the questions you actually need. If you want to know who is staying for the Sunday brunch, that is a question you can add.

A few printed copies, for the people who will keep them

Digital does not mean zero paper. If your grandmother wants something to hold, print a handful of copies and send the link to everybody else — one link in the family group covers the rest. And if the parking changes or the map sends people to the wrong gate, you fix it in the invitation. The link you already sent shows the correction, and nobody has to be called one by one. Choose a design, try it free and publish your Sunday wedding invitation once the schedule is settled.
