Platinum wedding anniversary invitations usually start as a family project. One person ends up with a notebook, three possible dates and a phone full of photos that need scanning. Seventy years of marriage is the easy part to celebrate. The logistics are what eat the fortnight.

It doesn't need to look like a museum plaque. It needs to say the date clearly, carry a photo worth looking at, and give every guest one button to press. Nobody has to install anything: the invitation opens in a browser and the reply takes ten seconds. Everything else is decoration.

Platinum wedding anniversary invitations start with the date

Before you pick a font, agree on the exact date, time and place and write it once: 'Saturday 14 June, 1:00 p.m., the Long Barn, Ashwell'. If the celebration is in another town, add one line with a map link or 'Parking at the north entrance'. Save your biggest type for the names and the years: 'Carmen and Luis, seventy years'.

  • The exact date, time and place, plus one line for directions if the venue is out of town.
  • One sentence that makes it theirs: where they met, a song, or how many grandchildren are coming.
  • The dress code in four words: 'Formal', 'Cocktail, light colours' or 'Wear what's comfortable'.
  • One cover photo — the oldest picture of the two of them, or the last family dance — with no text on top.

Platinum is more than a colour

Platinum, off-white and ice blue keep it calm. Load up on gold and the whole thing starts to shout. For the cover, pick the photo that tells the story rather than the newest one: the early black-and-white, or the two of them mid-dance at a grandchild's wedding.

Then check the reading, not the design. If a guest has to pinch-zoom to read the date, the invitation has failed. Bigger type, strong contrast, short lines. On a phone, that is the difference between a reply and a good intention.

A platinum anniversary invitation does three things well: it says when, it says where, and it makes replying a single tap.

An RSVP nobody dreads

Keep the confirmation inside the invitation instead of sending people to another form. One button — 'Confirm attendance' — and two questions are enough: are you coming, and how many of you? The replies land in one ordered list, so you see who hasn't answered without scrolling through a group chat, and nobody has to chase anyone.

Paper or digital: the sensible mix

Send the link or the QR code to everyone, and print a few copies for the relatives who keep things in a drawer. The invitation itself is digital — nothing gets printed or posted for you — so decide how many paper copies you actually want before anyone asks.

Guests abroad can read the invitation in Spanish, English, Catalan, French, Italian, Portuguese or German. Pick a design from the collection, try it free with your own cover photo, and publish once the date and the names are right.
