November Wedding Invitations: Set the Hour Before Dark

In November the light goes before dinner does. Here's how to put two separate times on the invitation, and change them later without reprinting a thing.

Half past six in mid-November and it's already dark. The ceremony was at noon, drinks ran until five, and three guests are texting to ask whether the party has started or starts at eight. Writing November wedding invitations means dealing with exactly that: the light leaves while the day is still going.

Nobody is confused about the venue. They're confused about the hour. So put two clear times on the invitation — ceremony and celebration — and your guests stop guessing. Here's how to write them, and how to change them later without sending a correction to eighty people.

November wedding invitations: two times, never 'to follow'

A single line saying 'ceremony followed by dinner' works in July. In November it doesn't, because the gap between the two can be three hours of fading daylight. Write them as separate fields: 'Ceremony, 12 pm' and 'Dinner, 2:30 pm'. If the drinks are outdoors, say what that means for clothing: 'Drinks are outside — by 8 pm it's cold, bring a jacket.' That one sentence answers more questions than any dress code.

  • Ceremony time and celebration time in separate fields, never 'to follow'.
  • The sunset time for your date and city, so you know how much daylight is left for family photos.
  • One warm-coat line if the drinks are outdoors: 'by 8 pm it gets cold'.
  • A single link your family saves in week one and keeps.

Venues confirm late, and sometimes they confirm twice. When your timings move, you open the editor, change the hour, and the link stays exactly the same. Nobody gets a 'correction' message on WhatsApp. The map, the place, the dress-code line — change any of it and the same link shows the updated version to whoever opens it.

Think of the aunt who saved the link in October. You don't need to call her to say it's now 1 pm. She opens it and reads 1 pm.

The invitation isn't a card you send once. It's a page that keeps being right.

RSVP when it's already dark outside

Replies arrive inside the invitation, in one ordered list, so you're not scrolling through chats at midnight counting yeses. You set the questions yourself — for example: 'Are you coming to the ceremony and the celebration, or just the ceremony?' Guests don't install anything. They open the link on a phone, answer from the bus, and close it.

Scenes, photos and the paper you don't need

Build the invitation as chained scenes rather than one long block — a first scene, a long dinner, a last dance. Each one carries its own words and photos. You can upload up to six of your own, choose which one is the cover, and swap any of them afterwards. If your engagement shoot lands late, it goes in without touching the rest.

If you have guests abroad, the content can be set per language, so the same invitation reads in Spanish, English, French or German depending on who opens it. And about paper: this is digital, so nothing is printed or posted. If someone wants something to frame, the sensible version is one link for everyone and a few printed copies for the people who'll keep them. Price is 29.99 EUR per invitation, one payment, no subscription, every scene unlocked when you buy.

Before you type a time, check when the light goes in your city that day and let the invitation say it for you. Pick a design, test the cover for free, and publish the link with the real hours on it. If something shifts, you edit it and everyone sees the new version — no reprint, no resend.
