Moving Party Invitations That Map Your New Neighbourhood
Two addresses, one link: how to plan a moving-away party or a new-home brunch, what goes on the invitation, and why the map pin matters most.

The van is booked for Saturday. By Thursday you are eating takeaway off a cardboard box in a half-empty kitchen, and someone texts the group: "Are we doing anything before you go?" You have two addresses, eleven days, and a group chat that has already split into three threads.
A moving party invitation is the one page that answers all of it at once — which party, where, what to wear, and whether your friend needs a train ticket or just a bus fare. Here is how to plan it, and what to put on it.
A moving party invitation can announce two parties
Decide the shape before you pick a date. Leaving drinks on the Thursday before the van arrives is one party. A new-home brunch on the first Sunday after the last box is unpacked is a different one. One invitation can announce both, but every guest needs to know which one they are coming to. Put both places in the first line — "Leaving Bermondsey, landing in Leeds" — and say why in plain words. "We got the keys" does more work at the top of the page than "You are cordially invited" ever will.
- Date, time, full address and one landmark — the blue door, the shop on the corner, the car park behind the church.
- Dress code in everyday language: "unpacking clothes, so jeans and trainers" answers the question three people will ask at 11pm.
- One line about the plan, so nobody arrives expecting dinner: "Pizza, records on, and everyone writes a note for the memory box."
- A reply-by date two weeks out, so you order the right number of pizzas.
The map is the strongest part of the invitation
A digital invitation is a web page, not an image, so the map and the address live inside the same page your guest is already reading. They open the link in any browser on their phone, no app to install. Add a QR code or a short link in the WhatsApp thread for the friends who will lose the original message by Sunday.
If the pub near the new flat is fully booked and you move the party to the one up the road, you change the pin and the same link shows the new place. No reprints, no second round of messages. Same for the time, the dress code or the phrase at the top.

A move is one of the few parties where the invitation can travel as far as you do.
Ask for a shoebox, not a gift list
Ask for something that fits in a shoebox instead of a gift: a note, a printed photo, a recipe card, a coaster from the old local. It travels in the van. Build the invitation scene by scene — first scene the old street, middle scenes the people, last scene the new front door — and use the photo slots for the story. RSVP answers land in one ordered list inside the invitation, so you stop chasing replies across three threads. If someone genuinely wants paper, print them a copy and keep the link for everyone else. Pick a design, drop in both addresses, and send it before the boxes are packed.
