Housewarming invitations: ideas to open your new home

A housewarming invitation is the first walk through the house, not a card with an address. Here's the wording, the room-by-room scenes and the RSVP that keeps you unpacking.

A housewarming invitation is the first walk through the house, not a card with an address. Here's the wording, the room-by-room scenes and the RSVP that keeps you unpacking.

The boxes are stacked in the hallway, the kettle is the only thing you can find, and someone is sitting on a kitchen chair because the sofa is still wrapped. You have the keys, a door with your name next to the buzzer, and a date in your head. What you don't have is a way to tell people to come over.

A housewarming invitation isn't a card with an address on it. It's the first walk through the house, before anyone has taken their coat off. That's the job: get people to the door and let them picture the rooms before they arrive. The details do the rest — the mug you always use, the lamp that already works, the one socket you've managed to find.

Housewarming invitation wording: the line that opens the door

Start with the label. Some friends say housewarming, some say flat opening, some just say come see the new place. Pick the one your people use and give it its own field in the editor, so it doesn't get tangled with everything else. One field per piece of information: label, names, date, phrase, place. Fill them in and the layout holds.

  • Label: housewarming, new place, or whatever your friends actually call it.
  • Names and date, no decoration: Marta and Diego. Saturday 14 June, 8pm. The character counter stops the line breaking on a phone.
  • One line that gives permission: Come warm the front room with us, even if a box is still open.
  • Where: the address, plus a landmark for parking or which buzzer to press.

Walk guests through the new house, room by room

A floor plan with arrows tells people where to go. A sequence of scenes tells them what the evening feels like. The invitation is built from scenes that guests move through one by one, and each scene takes its own text and its own photo. A scene for the front door, one for the courtyard you keep talking about, one for the long dinner.

Use the kitchen as the arrival scene: a photo of the table with the keys and the first drink does more than a diagram. Then end on the balcony or the living room with the toast — 9pm, first toast outside — so the invitation sets the pace of the night. You can add up to six of your own photos, cover included, and they frame themselves. If one doesn't convince you, swap it later without touching the text.

RSVP without chasing anyone on WhatsApp

Confirmations arrive inside the invitation, in one ordered list, so you're not copying answers out of a group chat at midnight. You decide what the form asks: staying for the long dinner? coming for the toast? Guests reply from their phone in the browser, with no app to install. Change the map, the dress code or the closing line and nobody has to be told twice. Choose a design, try it for free, and publish your housewarming invitation for €29.99 as a one-time payment. The house already has a door. It just needs the words that open it.
