Gender Reveal Confetti Invitations: What Changed

Biodegradable confetti dissolves by Monday. The reveal is decided earlier: how you tell people, how they confirm, and what happens if it rains on the day.

You are on the lawn on Sunday morning with the hose in one hand, and yesterday's plastic confetti is still there. Some of it is stuck to the dog's paw. Some of it is on the kitchen floor, and it will still be there on Wednesday.

That is the part nobody posts. Biodegradable confetti disappears with rain or one pass of the hose. The reveal itself is decided earlier: how you tell people where to be, how they confirm, and what you do when the forecast turns.

The cannons people are firing now shoot flat colour — mint and sky blue, or pink and fuchsia — against a neutral background. That is less a style choice than a video one: flat colour reads clean on a vertical phone clip, while six shades of pink blur into mush. And whatever comes out has to break down. Paper petals that vanish when they get wet, not foil that sits in the flowerbed until spring.

  • Two colours and one metal. Nothing else on the table.
  • One biodegradable cannon per five guests, plus a spare in case a trigger jams.
  • Time, place and the link in the first message. Not the fifth.
  • Keep the label text short: the editor counts characters and shows you how it reads on a phone, not on your laptop.

Pick the colour pair before the font

Choose the two colours first, then the design. If pink and fuchsia sit in the same palette, the photos come out muddy and nobody can tell the exact second the colour landed.

One metallic accent — soft gold or silver — holds up under terrace light. Three colours competing between confetti, balloons and a tablecloth do not. Test the palette in the real spot at the real hour: sky blue at 7pm in a warm-lit courtyard turns grey, and no editing app brings it back.

The confetti makes the photo. The link is what gets everyone standing in the right place when it goes off.

A digital invitation is a page for your event with its own web address. Guests open the link in any browser and confirm from their phone, with no app to install, so the aunt who avoids technology still replies. If rain moves everything from the garden to the living room, you change the place in the editor and the link stays the same. Nobody gets a "new address" text two hours before. You can add up to six photos — the scan, the siblings, the cake — set one as the cover and swap any of them later without rebuilding anything.

Confirmations arrive inside that same invitation, in one ordered list instead of being scattered across WhatsApp, Instagram and calls nobody picks up. You decide what the form asks: how many of you are coming, who is staying for dinner, who is bringing the cake. It is asked once, in the same place the time is written. People who ignore the group chat but open the link turn up on the list anyway.

When paper still earns its place

If someone wants to keep something in a drawer, print three or four copies for the grandparents or the album and send the link to everyone else. Paper cannot be updated: change the time and you reprint and redistribute. The link you edit after sending, and guests see the current version. The honest requirement of digital is a phone, tablet or computer with a connection. If one guest does not have that, that is exactly the copy you print.

Fix the palette, stand in the courtyard at the hour the party starts, and let the confetti do the rest. Once the link is live, your people see the time, the photos and the confirm button in one place, even if the plan changes on Friday.
