Digital invitations with an animated envelope that opens

An envelope that opens when a guest taps the screen changes how an invitation lands. Here is what to animate, what to put behind it and how replies arrive.

It is 11.40pm on a Tuesday and the group chat is doing what group chats do: two memes, a photo of somebody's dog, and your invitation link somewhere in the middle. Half the group opens it. The other half taps 'remind me later' and never comes back to it.

Whether they tap usually comes down to the first second. A flat card with a date on it looks like an advert and gets scrolled past. A digital invitation with an animated envelope gives them something to do with their thumb: touch, and the flap opens.

The animated envelope decides whether anyone opens your invitation

The envelope is not decoration. It is the gesture that decides whether a guest taps the link or parks it in the later pile. Half a second of opening sets the tone of the whole event: a formal wedding should not open the way a summer dinner in a courtyard does. In the collection, the scene 'Umbral de cal' opens the envelope onto a vertical photo of the two of you standing in your own front door.

  • A cover photo that survives the crop: vertical and horizontal both work, because the frame fits it for you.
  • A label of four words at most, like 'Our wedding' or 'Dinner in the courtyard'.
  • The exact time and the name of the place, spelled the way you would say them out loud.
  • Music that starts soft, so nobody reaches for the volume button as the envelope opens.

What sits behind the animated envelope

If the envelope opens and all that appears is a date and a venue, the guest has already seen everything. The next scene has to hold something: 'Memoria del patio', say, with two photos of you and the line about the table where you ended up talking until three in the morning.

Keep the details in separate fields, label, names, date, sentence and place, instead of one paragraph nobody reads on a phone. The editor counts characters as you type, so a label that does not fit gets shortened before you publish rather than breaking the layout the night before. You can add up to six of your own photos, mark which one is the cover and replace any of them later. And keep the movement pointed: the envelope opens toward the cover, it does not spin like a banner.

An envelope that opens is the difference between an invitation someone reads and one that quietly dies in the group chat.

The animated envelope collects the yes

Replies arrive inside the same invitation, in an ordered list, so nobody is chasing 'are you coming or not?' on WhatsApp on Friday afternoon. You set the questions yourself: a plain yes, a field for a message to the couple, whatever actually helps you plan. Guests install nothing. The link opens in any browser and they answer from the phone on the bus.

You can also edit the invitation after sending it and the link stays the same. Change the time, the venue, the map or the dress code and guests see the updated version, with no second message going out and nothing reprinted. If somebody wants paper, the sensible combination is a link for everyone plus a few printed copies for the people who will keep them. Pick a design, try it free, and publish when it feels right.
