Digital invitation for a product launch: how to do it

Your launch deserves more than a poster in the group chat. A digital invitation opens on a phone, updates itself and collects the RSVPs in one list

It's 9pm the night before the launch. The demo is loaded, the chairs are out, and someone in the team chat asks whether it starts at 7 or 7.30. Forty messages later, nobody knows who's actually coming. A digital invitation fixes that on one page: you pick a design from the catalogue, edit it in the browser and send it today. This is how to make a digital invitation for a product launch without leaving the important things buried in a chat thread.

Treat it as the first screen of the product itself. Before anyone touches the demo or reads a spec sheet, they see your page: what's launching, when, and where. Get those right and everything else is just editing.

How to create a digital invitation for a product launch: the first screen

Pin the three facts every guest looks for on the cover: what's launching, the day and the exact time. If that fails, the music and the photos are decoration. Everything below is set in Joy Studio, in the browser, with a preview that updates as you type.

  • The exact product name and its category, spelled the same way as on your website.
  • Day, time and city, with the time zone spelled out if people are travelling in from somewhere else.
  • A real photo of the product as the cover, not a render. You have up to six photos, you mark which one opens the invitation, and you can swap any of them later.
  • The product name in the label field and the city in the place field. They're separate fields with a character counter, so nothing gets cut mid-word.

Send the link to the team group chat and put the same QR code on a card by the till. Then drop that QR into the corner of the last slide of your deck: whoever walks in late scans it from their phone without asking you anything. Nobody installs an app. Digital invitations open in the browser on a phone, tablet or laptop, and the confirmation happens right there.

The answers land in a list inside the invitation itself, not spread across five conversations the same afternoon. Set the RSVP questions around what you actually need to know: how many people each guest is bringing, or which location they're coming to. Then publish with one button and stop chasing replies while you're setting up the stage.

The invitation isn't the warm-up act. It's the first thing people see of the product, and it should still be right the day after you send it.

If the supplier pushes the demo back, you edit the time and the link stays the same. Whoever already opened it sees the updated version. Changing the venue, adding a map or a dress code doesn't mean resending anything or reprinting envelopes, and you can swap in the final photo of the product after the invitation has gone out. If someone on the team insists on paper, the sensible version is a mix: the link for everyone, a few printed copies for the people who'll keep one.

You have the date, the product and the guest list. What's missing is the link that opens all of it. Create your invitation today and let the link work while you rehearse the demo.
