It is 21:20 on a Saturday in Valencia and half your group is outside La Tomasa on Calle del Mar. The other half is outside La Tomasa on Avenida Blasco Ibáñez, on the other side of the city, ringing you. Your group chat said 'La Tomasa' and nothing else. A Digital invitation carries the full hen party address, the map and the time in one link, and you can build it from the catalogue today and send it before anyone orders a taxi.

Nobody in that group was careless. The address was written the way we write addresses to friends: a name, a vague area, and the assumption that everyone knows the place. Call it a hen do or a bachelorette party, the problem is the same. The address is the only line in the invitation that guests have to act on.

The hen party address mistake that splits the group

Three versions of the same mistake turn up again and again, and each one ends with somebody standing at the wrong door.

  • The venue name on its own: 'La Tomasa'. Two bars in the same city can share a name, and half the group rings the other half from the wrong doorway.
  • 'Marta's flat, you know the one.' Your cousin flying in from Bilbao does not know the one, and the pin you sent is buried under 40 messages asking whether it is black or white.
  • 'Bar area, city centre' is not an address. You cannot paste it into Google Maps and you cannot explain it to a taxi driver at 1 a.m.
  • One pinned location in a group chat of 14, which disappears the moment someone asks what time dinner starts.

What a hen party address has to include

A working address has four parts: street and number, floor and door if it is a flat, postcode and town. Written out, it looks like this: 88 Blasco Ibáñez Street, flat 3A, 46021 Valencia. Then the venue name in brackets, spelled exactly as it appears on the map: 'Calle del Almendro 12 (Casa Lola), Madrid'. A guest who types that into their phone finds it on the first attempt.

Add the one thing Google Maps cannot give you: a landmark a person can actually see. 'Green awning, next to the pharmacy' does more work than a blue dot, because the map leaves you on the corner instead of at the door. And keep the map inside the invitation, not in a chat message that slides up and out of sight by Thursday.

Three slip-ups you pay for at the door

Writing 21:00 when you had agreed to meet at 20:30 for a drink leaves the first two guests alone at the bar. Deleting the postcode to keep things tidy hands the taxi driver a 15-minute detour. And moving the meeting point with a message that only half the chat reads sends everyone who muted notifications to the old door. If the map sits inside the invitation, you change the meeting point once and every guest sees the new one.

The address is not a footnote at the bottom of the invitation. It decides whether the night starts at 21:00 at the door or at 22:15 in a group chat.

A Digital invitation updates the address without resending anything

Check the address before you send anything. With a Digital invitation from Send The Joy (29.99 EUR, one payment) you edit the venue, the time or the map whenever you want and the link stays the same, so nobody has to install an app or dig through old messages. Your guests open the link in the browser on their phone, see the current address and confirm from there. If the restaurant moves at the last minute, you fix it in Joy Studio from your browser: no reprints, no second round of messages at 22:00.
