Friday evening, the pumpkins are already on the step, and the group chat has asked the same three things since lunch: what time, which bench, and does a parent stay. That is Halloween invitation etiquette for a witches' tea party, and it comes down to three lines. A digital invitation puts them where people actually look: you pick a design from the collection, type the time on the cover line and send the link tonight.

Get those three lines right and the rest — the hats, the snacks, the small print — has room to breathe. Get them wrong and you spend Saturday on your phone instead of at the table with a paper cup of something warm.

Witch's tea party etiquette: the line that keeps parents in the park

One line carries the whole thing: 'Tea 5:30 to 7:00, shared tea table.' Put it on the label line, or directly under the date and time, at reading size — not tucked into the welcome paragraph. A parent reads it on a phone, in a supermarket queue, one-handed. Those words tell them the tea has an end, that there is a table, and that nobody has to cook for twenty children.

  • Start and finish on the same line: 5:30 to 7:00, pickup at the fountain.
  • 'Shared tea table' means each family brings one savoury or sweet thing, and nobody has to message you to ask what to bring.
  • Name a real spot in the park — the fountain, the blue bench, the hut by the gate. 'Near the swings' is no help to a parent arriving late.
  • Say what to bring: a small torch, a bag for the leftovers, a jacket for when it turns cold.

How to create a digital invitation: what to write and what to leave out

Dress code works better short and positive: 'hat, cape or anything purple'. 'Costume required' at age six turns a school night into a chore and fills the park with uncomfortable children. If a child turns up in a bin bag and a cardboard hat, that is the costume working. Money stays out of the text. If you want to say something, write 'a drawing of a witch beats a wrapped present' and place it at the end, after the time — never before it.

Names go in one by one — Leo, Martina and Vera — because 'all our classmates' invites nobody in particular. On a digital invitation you change those names in the editor and nothing else on the page moves. That is also why digital invitations handle a class list better than paper: one link, one version, no twenty cards at the bottom of a book bag three days before.

The time, the meeting point and the shared table are the etiquette. The rest is decoration.

Where the 'parents stay' note goes

Give it its own line on the cover scene, three beats and two dots: 'Tea 5:30 to 7:00 · shared tea table · parents stay'. Then ask it once inside the RSVP form, in your own words — 'Who's staying in the park?' — and the answers arrive in an ordered list in the same invitation, so you know how many cups to buy on Friday. If the park has two entrances, name the right one in the place field. If the tea moves to six or the bench changes, you edit it and the link stays the same: everyone sees the new version, nobody gets a second message. That is the point of a digital invitation at €29.99, one payment, no app for anyone to install. Pick a design, try the cover in test mode and send it before the pumpkins go soft.
