It's Tuesday night. The kitchen table has a half-carved pumpkin on it, a newsletter from school and a phone that keeps buzzing with the same question in different words: who's coming on Friday? The class Halloween snack starts at six, you're hosting, and you need a number by Thursday. So you open the catalogue, pick a design and put together a digital invitation you can send before you go to bed.

The party isn't the difficult part. The count is. You can't buy juice cartons for a number you're guessing at, and you can't scroll through forty messages about who's bringing ice to work out how many chairs to drag into the yard. What you need is one link where the answers land, in a list, in order.

What to write on the RSVP button of a Halloween digital invitation

"I'll be there" gets answered with a thumb and no thought at all. "Count me in — I'm dressed up" gets read out loud at the kitchen table, and that's where the conversation you actually want begins. Write it for someone holding a child's bag with one hand: four or five words, imperative, with a bit of pumpkin silliness. If the plan includes staying for the snack, say so in the question itself — "Are you staying to eat?" gets a better answer than "Coming?".

  • Button text: "Count me in — I'm dressed up."
  • Two separate fields: "Child's name" and "Adult bringing them". That list gets read standing up in the school doorway, and nobody remembers who "Lucas's mum" is.
  • "How many of you in total?" — siblings included, so you're not short of cups or long of chairs.
  • "Costume or normal clothes?" — the question everyone ends up asking on WhatsApp at eleven at night.

How to create Halloween digital invitations for a school class

Start with a design from the collection — filter by style if you already know what the porch looks like: warm candlelight, charcoal, something with cobwebs. Then edit it in the browser in Joy Studio, nothing to install. Venue, time, the line under the names, the words on the button. The preview updates as you type, and a character counter stops you writing a paragraph where a line will do.

Add up to six of your own photos — the schoolyard, last year's snack, the costume that won — and mark which one is the cover; you can swap any of them later. Music is there if you want something playing while people read. Guests open the link in a browser and answer from the phone, no app to download: the grandparent, the class rep and the teacher all reply in the same minute. In a class with families from half of Europe, the content of the invitation can be set in Spanish, English, Catalan, French, Italian, Portuguese or German.

A list inside the invitation beats twenty "quick question" messages at eleven at night.

The deadline is written on the invitation, not assumed

Put "Thursday 30th, 6pm" in the text, not only in your head, and pick a day before the event: if the snack is Friday, closing the list on Thursday afternoon still leaves you time to buy plates and candles. On Thursday, open the reply list and message only the four people missing — same link, one short line: "Shall I put you down, Nacho?" If the school moves pick-up or the room changes, edit the invitation and the link stays the same. Nobody opens an old version with last week's time, and there's nothing to reprint or resend, because there are no envelopes. If a grandparent wants paper for the fridge, print two copies and keep the link for everyone else.

Before the door creaks open and the pumpkins on the step light up, someone has to know how many cups to put out. Choose the design, write the line for the button, set Thursday at six, and publish your Halloween invitation today — the replies arrive in the same place you sent them.
