Digital invitation: Halloween crow route with your crew

Canva gives you a poster. A digital invitation gives you a start point, an exact hour and a map that opens in one link, no app and no sign-up for your crew

It's 22:30 on a Saturday and the group chat is still arguing about whether you're meeting at the dead lamppost or the bench opposite the church. Someone posted a Canva poster on Tuesday. Someone else posted a screenshot of it. A third person saved the PDF twice, and now there are three versions of the same night. If you're planning a Halloween crow route with your crew — a fixed line through the neighbourhood, a few decorated doorways on the way — you don't need another poster. You need a digital invitation, and you can build and send one today from the catalogue.

A poster shows the plan. An invitation is the plan: one link your guests open in the browser they already have, with the start point, the hour, the map and the RSVP in the same place. No app to install, no account to create, nothing to download and lose in a camera roll.

Canva solves the design. It doesn't touch the logistics. The start point ends up in a WhatsApp message buried under forty replies and three pumpkin memes, and the map is a screenshot with the street name cropped off. Before you pick colours, write down what your crew has to know without asking:

  • The exact meeting time and the minute the route sets off, in numbers: 22:40, not 'around eleven'.
  • A start point with a name your friends actually use: the dead lamppost on the square, not 'the usual place'.
  • A map that opens from the link itself, so nobody copies an address by hand or asks in the chat.
  • A cover photo of the decorated doorway: carved pumpkins, cobwebs, one lantern, no parked cars in the background.

Start point, hour and map: what a template won't close

In the editor, each piece of information gets its own field: label, names, date, phrase, place. There's a character counter and a live preview, so you type the address once and see how it sits on a phone screen before your crew does.

If the route slips from 22:30 to 23:00, you change the time and nothing else. The link stays the same, and everyone who already has it sees the updated version — no one ends up at the portal at 22:40 wondering where the rest are. Up to six photos of your own go in too, with the cover marked by hand and any photo swapped later.

Nobody should stand at the wrong doorway because a poster can't be edited.

Free template, PDF or digital invitations: alternatives to Canva for Halloween

Three options, three different jobs. A free template is quick and looks fine, but every edit creates a new file, and your crew ends up with five versions of the same poster. A PDF or a JPEG carries its weight and nothing else: the map doesn't open from inside it, and the guest copies the address by hand or asks in the chat. A web invitation is one link or one QR code, and the confirmations land in a list instead of a scroll.

RSVP inside the invitation: what you get for 29,99 EUR

The replies arrive in a list inside the same invitation, so an 'I'm in' doesn't disappear under a sticker at two in the morning. You write the RSVP questions yourself — 'are you staying for the last stop?' or 'walking with the group or meeting us there?' — and edit them later if the plan changes. It's 29,99 EUR per invitation, paid once, no subscription, and the whole thing is digital: nothing printed, nothing posted. Guests need a phone, tablet or laptop with a connection, and that's it. If the route, the hour and the doorway are already decided, the only thing missing is the link that says all of it. Pick a design, test it free in test mode, and publish it: your crew opens it, confirms and turns up at eleven.
