Twenty minutes before the haunted house opens, your phone buzzes. "Which door of the school?" It's the fourth message in the class group and you're still taping cardboard bats to the gym ceiling. A digital invitation would have answered it before anyone asked. You can build one today: choose a design from the catalogue, add your own texts and photos, and send it as a link or a QR code.

The mistakes below are the ones that turn a class Halloween party into a treasure hunt for parents. None of them are dramatic. All of them happen in the same five lines of text, and all of them are fixable before you hit send.

Digital invitation mistakes at a Halloween class party in the school gym

The first one is treating the school name as an address. It isn't. "School gym" says which building, not which door, and most schools have three: the yard gate, the office entrance and the one by the sports hall. Pick one and put it exactly where people read the hour.

  • Name the door: "side door of the gym, the one by the basketball courts", and put the map in the place field, not in a separate message nobody scrolls back to.
  • Write the start time and the pick-up time on the same line, in the same size. 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm ends the guessing.
  • Say what happens and what doesn't: snack, haunted house game inside the gym, pick-up at the same door, nobody crossing the yard in the dark.
  • Mention the one thing to bring: a small torch, or "costume without anything that snags".

A snack table with no pick-up time is a trap

Put "5:00 pm" on its own and ten families will ask the group whether it ends at 7:00 or 8:30. The fix is one line: the pick-up time in the same field as the start. If the gym door opens at 5:30 pm and not before, say that too — at 5:15 pm the caretaker is still locking up.

Photos of a painted cardboard poster don't help either. Half the class gets a blurry picture and the other half can't find the text between the pumpkins. A link opens in any phone browser, nobody installs an app, and the confirmations land inside the invitation in one ordered list instead of scattered across the chat. If the class group mixes languages, you can set the invitation content in English, Spanish, Catalan or another of the seven the site runs in, all from the same link.

An invitation that names the door, the hour and the pick-up does most of the work before the group chat wakes up.

How to create digital invitations that survive a gym change

Schools change their mind. The east wing loses power, the gym stays shut and everyone comes in through the dining hall instead. With a digital invitation you edit the place and the map, and the link stays the same — parents see the updated version, no reprints and no voice note explaining the correction. So before the door starts creaking: choose a design, test it free, publish it and drop the link in the class group. Digital invitations from Send The Joy cost 29.99 EUR, one payment, and you can edit them whenever the school changes the plan.
