Gender Reveal at Home or Restaurant: Digital Invitation

A digital invitation makes the home-or-restaurant call easier: compare what each one really costs, keep the colour a secret, and change the details after you send it

Thirty-eight people in a living room in November. Two cake boxes on the sideboard, one blue ribbon, one pink. Then a text from the restaurant asking if you still want the table for forty. That message is the whole question: gender reveal at home or restaurant.

You don't have to answer it before you send anything. Pick a digital invitation from the catalogue, write the date and the plan today, and send the link. If the venue changes, you edit the page instead of reprinting forty cards and chasing everyone with a correction.

Gender reveal at home: you pay for the food, not the room

At home you set the clock. If grandma is twenty minutes late, you start when she walks in, not when a booking slot opens. Balloons, an arch, a dessert table: none of it comes with a room rental or a minimum spend, so the money goes on food, drinks and the cleaning afterwards. The limit is your floor plan. Twenty guests fit in most living rooms. Sixty need a garden, a terrace, or a plan for rain.

  • Who cooks, who serves and who is still clearing up at midnight.
  • Where the cake waits, and who has the key to that fridge.
  • The rain plan if the reveal happens outside.
  • Who else knows the colour: the baker, the balloon shop, one friend. Keep it there.

Restaurant: you pay so you don't set up or clean up

The menu is charged per person and usually closed a week or two ahead. If someone drops out, you often pay for their seat anyway. In return you get service, space and a kitchen you never have to touch. The secret is the weak spot: waiters, kitchen staff and the next table can spot a blue cake crossing the room before your mum does.

Think about the hands the colour passes through: your baker, whoever carries the box, whoever cuts the cake. Keep that circle to two or three people and decide in advance who gets to cut it.

Home or restaurant is not a style question. It is a question about who is doing the washing up at midnight.

A digital invitation is a web page with its own link. You send it by message or QR code, guests open it in the browser on their phone and confirm on the same page. No app to install, no envelopes. If the restaurant falls through on Tuesday and the party moves home, you change the time, the address, the map or the wording and the link stays identical. Nobody gets a correction message.

  • Try it free first: test mode lets you edit the cover without paying; buying unlocks every scene.
  • The RSVP questions are yours to set, and confirmations land in one ordered list.
  • Up to six of your own photos, cover and decorative, with the cover marked and swapped whenever you like.
  • One payment of 29,99 EUR per invitation. No subscription.

Home vs restaurant: the budget comes before the colour

Two columns on one sheet of paper. Home: food, drinks, decorations, cleaning. Restaurant: menu per head, the booking, the cake, the tip. Then ask what the money buys. At home it can pay for a better cake or a camera to film the reaction. In a restaurant the same amount tends to vanish into the cover charge.

  • How many guests, and whether they fit seated at home.
  • Who cooks, serves and clears up if it is at home.
  • Menu per person, minimum numbers and last sitting time if it is a restaurant.
  • Permission for an outside cake, decorations and confetti.
  • How people will confirm, and how you will tell them if the time changes.

The day before, open the invitation and check the confirmed list and the map; it is the same page your guests already have. If your grandmother wants something for a drawer, print a few copies for her and send the link to everyone else. Choose the design, fill in the details and send the link while the plan is still flexible.
