Digital invitation: what to put on a christening one

Digital invitation: Two times, full godparent names and a reply deadline: the three lines a christening invitation gets wrong. With a digital invitation you fix them on the same link

The queue at the parish door moves slowly on a Sunday morning, and it isn't the priest holding it up. Someone is asking a cousin which godparents are actually being named, because the invitation only says "the godparents". Nobody warns you that what to put on a christening invitation is mostly this: names, times and addresses, spelled out. Get those right in a digital invitation and you can pick a design from the catalogue and send it today.

A digital invitation is a page you write once, send as a link and edit later without resending anything. It costs 29.99 EUR, one payment, no subscription. The mistakes below are the ones people notice at the door, so let's take them in order.

What to put on a christening invitation: the godparents come first

On a christening invitation (or a baptism invitation, if that's the word your family uses) the names carry more weight than the design. Start with the godparents and write them properly. The rest of the page gets easier once that line is right.

  • The godparents' first names and surnames, not "the godparents". At the parish door, people ask for them before they ask for the time.
  • Godparents and witnesses, if you have both. Leaving one couple off is noticed at the table, not on the paper.
  • No "Godparents: the grandparents". If they're the maternal grandparents and the other grandparents are invited, that line turns into an awkward conversation on the day.
  • The child's name with its accents, spelled the way it will be said in the ceremony. If at home she's Lucía and the invitation says Lucia, correct it before you send.

The service time and the meal time are two different lines

Put two times on the page, each with its own address: ceremony at 12:00 at the parish, lunch at 14:00 at the restaurant. With a single time, half the family arrives late to the second place. Write the exact name of the church and the street, not "the village church" — plenty of villages have two parishes and a guest from out of town won't guess.

If the meal is in another town, add the restaurant name as it appears on the sign by the door, so nobody has to call and ask. This is where digital invitations earn their place: one field per piece of information — heading, names, date, phrase, place — with a character counter. The godparent line is either filled in or visibly empty. Nothing hides behind a layout.

An invitation isn't decoration. It's the instruction sheet for a Sunday.

How to create a digital invitation for a christening with two venues

A christening usually runs parish, photos, restaurant. If the invitation names one venue, a guest is on WhatsApp at nine on Sunday morning asking where to go. So mark the cover photo — the child or the church — add one short line of welcome ("we'll see you at 12:00 at St Peter's") instead of a paragraph, and set the reply questions you actually need. Replies arrive inside the invitation in an ordered list. If the time moves, edit it and the same link shows the new version: nothing to reprint, nothing to resend. Pick a design, try it free, and publish once the godparents' names are spelled right.
