The caterer's quote comes back with one number at the bottom: covers. You scroll through three chats trying to work out where that number came from, and whether the two-year-olds were counted as adults. Catering is billed per cover and per children's menu, so the guest list sets the bill long before you've picked a single dish. A digital invitation sorts that out early: you build it today from the catalogue, share the link, and the answers arrive in one list you can read on Monday morning.

The design is the easy part. The count is what costs money. Everything below is about getting that count right before the caterer asks for it — and about what the invitation itself should and shouldn't cost.

A digital invitation splits the guest list into adults and children

Restaurants don't count chairs, they count covers. Four adults and two children at the cousins' table is six covers and two children's menus on the invoice. An RSVP form with two separate questions — adults, children — gives you that split without a spreadsheet, because the answers stay inside the invitation instead of scattering across messages.

  • One plain question: 'How many adults and how many children?' Not a bare 'confirm attendance'.
  • A name per invitation. The caterer counts people, not 'the Ruiz family'.
  • The reply deadline written into the invitation, not buried in a group chat.
  • Children's menus counted apart from the total, and rechecked the morning you ring the restaurant.

What a digital invitation for a christening costs: 29.99 EUR, once

One payment of 29.99 EUR per invitation. No subscription, no monthly fee, no price that grows with every name you add. Covers run the other way: per person, per menu. Anyone who joins the list after you've handed over the number is another line on the caterer's bill.

You can test the design before paying. In test mode you edit the cover with the baby's name and the date already in place, so you're judging a design with your own text on it rather than a blank template. Buying unlocks the rest of the scenes. Digital invitations that were priced per guest would punish you for inviting the family; this one doesn't.

The invitation is charged once; the covers are charged per person. Fix the count and the catering quote stops moving.

Changing the time or the restaurant means no resending

Christening lunches shift. The dining room isn't ready at 13:00, so it becomes 14:00. The map pin is wrong. Someone asks whether to wear a jacket. You edit that scene and the link stays exactly as it was — guests open the updated version, no second message, no reprint, no fresh envelopes. It's worth most in the last week, when the cake, the tables and the timing are still moving.

The children's menus get sorted in one list, not twenty WhatsApps

Replies land inside the invitation, in order, so 'yes, all four of us' sits apart from 'not sure yet' before you give the restaurant a final figure. No screenshots to cross-check, no name repeated across three conversations, no 'are you bringing the kids?' text four days out. Try the design free, put in the baby's name and the date, publish the link when you're ready — and the invitation keeps updating itself until the day of the christening.
