Digital invitation: children's menu at your wedding

A digital invitation lets you write the children's menu once — age limit, dishes, price and who to tell — so parents confirm without a single WhatsApp chase

It's ten days before the wedding and your phone keeps buzzing. One parent wants to know whether the children's menu is included, another asks whether her eight-year-old counts as a child, a third says her son only eats pasta. You explained all of this at the start, buried in a thread of two hundred messages. A digital invitation solves it: you write the children's menu once, in the dinner scene, and every parent reads it before they confirm. You can build it and send it today from the catalogue, and your guests just open a link.

The menu itself is rarely the problem. What causes the messages is the wording: an age range nobody wrote down, a dish nobody named, a deadline nobody published. Fix those three and you stop answering the same question fourteen times.

The children's menu starts on the digital invitation

Everything a parent needs fits in two lines they can read on a phone. Decide the age limit before you type anything, name the dishes instead of writing 'children's menu' on its own, and say whether it costs extra. 'Children's menu for ages 3 to 10, included' kills more questions than a paragraph of explanation. If it's 15 € per child, write 15 € per child, not 'ask us for details'.

  • The age limit and the price in one sentence: 'Children's menu for ages 3 to 10, included.'
  • The dishes: 'croquettes, breaded chicken fillet and ice cream' tells parents more than the label alone.
  • The serving time: 'Children's menu served at 20:30, at the same time as the adults.'
  • A named contact: 'For children's menus, talk to Claire', someone who actually replies.

How to ask for the children's menu on a wedding digital invitation

Here's the part most couples miss: the confirmation form collects who is coming, not what they eat. So don't hide the request inside the RSVP and hope. Put the sentence just above the confirm button, where everyone reads it before tapping: 'If you need a children's menu, message us on WhatsApp at 06 XX XX XX XX before 15 May.' One line, one contact, one deadline.

Keep the two jobs apart. The dinner scene explains what the children eat, when it's served and who to ask. The RSVP scene confirms attendance and nothing else. Mix them and half your guests answer one question and skip the other, and you end up rebuilding the list by hand.

The dinner scene says what the children eat. The RSVP says who's coming. Don't ask one to do both.

Why digital invitations for weddings stop you chasing parents

Once the link is out, it stays the same link. Change the serving time, the dish or the place and you edit it, and guests see the updated version without you re-sending anything. Confirmations land inside the invitation in one ordered list instead of a WhatsApp thread, and nobody downloads an app to answer. Set your children's menu deadline three weeks before the wedding and check those messages separately, because the RSVP doesn't collect special menus on its own. Then start your invitation from the catalogue and put the children's menu where parents will actually see it.
