Your phone has a scan on it. Grey, slightly blue, a date stamped in one corner and the clinic name across the top. You want it on the cover of the baby shower invitation, but right now it looks like something you would hand to a doctor. A digital invitation with a baby shower ultrasound photo comes down to three moves: crop the frame, pick a warm background, keep the words short. You can build it and send it today from the catalogue, no printer and no envelopes.

The scan does not need editing. It needs framing. Here is the whole process, from the hospital file to the cover, using what is already inside the editor.

Crop the document, not the baby

Open the scan on your phone and crop the edges away: the monitor border, the printed date, the clinic name, the mother's details. What is left is the profile, and that is all you need. If your file is a JPG sitting on a black background, crop it to a square or a circle so that black disappears inside the invitation frame instead of looking like an X-ray taped to the page.

  • Crop the monitor frame, the printed date and the clinic name. Keep the profile.
  • JPG on black? Square or circle, so the black goes away.
  • Use the highest resolution you have, not a WhatsApp screenshot forwarded twice.
  • If all you have is a photo of a printout, take it again in daylight, straight on, no flash.

How to make a digital invitation with a baby shower ultrasound photo

In the editor you can upload up to six of your own photos and mark which one is the cover. Put the cropped scan there and save the other five for the nursery, the cake, the people who will be in the room. Photos frame themselves inside the layout, and you can swap any of them later: a sharper scan at 30 weeks goes in and the link stays exactly the same. That is the part digital invitations handle better than print, because the scan is the one photo on this invitation that is going to change.

Colour does more than any filter. Scans are grey with a blue cast, so a sand, sage or cream cover carries them and bubblegum pink or baby blue flattens them. Try an oval or arch frame: the curve softens the grain and turns the image into a portrait rather than a medical print. Skip the high-contrast and black-and-white filters. The profile gets lost and your guest spends two seconds working out what they are looking at.

The scan is not the invitation. It is the first line of it.

One short line, then look at it on a phone

Under the photo, one line: 'Here is where it starts', or 'See you on 14 June'. The character counter is there so you stop at one, because three lines of text cover the picture. Put each fact in its own field (label, names, date, line, place, time, address) so a correction later means changing a field, not rewriting a paragraph. Then open the preview on your phone: the scan sits upright on a handset, so check the top of the profile is not cut off. Confirmations arrive inside the same invitation as an ordered list, no app to install. Pick a design, test it free with your scan on the cover, and unlock every scene once it looks right: €29.99, one payment, no subscription.
