Two babies, two names, one link. How to keep godparents, arm turns and RSVPs straight so nobody congratulates the wrong twin, from the cover to the RSVP list.

The invitation goes out on Tuesday with both names on the cover. By Friday your aunt has replied "the twins" as two guests, your cousin is asking on WhatsApp which one is Julia, and the godmother is still not sure whether she walks in with a baby or just stands at the font. Nothing has gone wrong yet. It's just that every small detail now has two owners, and everyone asks you about it.

A christening for twins isn't a christening with one extra name. Two names, two sets of godparents, two turns in somebody's arms. The invitation is where those doubles first show up, which makes it the cheapest place to get them right.

Christening invitations for twins: write both names in full

Put "Mateo and Julia" on the cover, never "the twins". If there is already a Mateo in the family, add the surname the way your grandmother says it when she introduces them, because that's the version guests will recognise. Then keep the same order everywhere: on the cover, in the line inside, and in the confirmation form. Swap the order halfway and half the replies congratulate the wrong baby.

  • Both names in full on the cover: "Mateo and Julia", not "the twins".
  • One field per piece of data: nameplate, names, date, line, place. A name can't slide into the date field while you edit.
  • The same order of names on the cover, in the line inside, and in the RSVP form.
  • If another Mateo already exists in the family, add the surname your grandmother uses.

Godparents for twins: decide before you send anything

Work out first whether you'll have two pairs, one per baby, or one pair for both, and write it into the invitation before the first one leaves. "Ana and Pablo, Mateo's godparents; Luis and Marta, Julia's godparents" kills the question at the church door. If they're different, name them with first and last names inside the invitation: your aunt will ask on WhatsApp that same morning who is who.

If a godparent changes, you edit the invitation and the link stays the same. Nobody has to be told one by one, and no card has to be reprinted.

Who carries whom at the font

Set the turns before the day: who holds Mateo over the font, who holds Julia, and who walks each of them in. Two babies, four arms, and there is always someone left without their moment. Write it into one line of the invitation so anyone can check it on their phone instead of asking you in the middle of the photographs.

Two names, two sets of godparents, one link: that's the whole christening invitation.

Send The Joy

Send a single invitation with both names on the cover, the same date and the same place. Two separate links mean half your guests confirm for one baby only. Ask how many people are coming, not just yes or no: with twins, "the aunt's family" and "four of us" are not the same number of chairs. The replies land in one ordered list inside the invitation, so you're not scrolling through separate WhatsApp threads. If the time or the church changes, you edit the invitation and everyone sees the updated version on the same link. Paper isn't included: if someone wants something to keep, the sensible combination is the link for everyone plus a few printed copies for the people who'll put them in a drawer. Try the design for free, edit the cover with both names, and unlock every scene for €29.99, one payment.
