You're on the sofa with your phone in one hand and a list of names in the other. Your best friend's bachelorette is three weeks away. You want to invite the right people, but you're already imagining the awkward conversations. Who do you leave out? How do you tell them? The guest list is the part that makes or breaks the mood.

There's no perfect number. But there is a way to decide who's in and how to tell them. Here's how to do it without drama, and without leaving anyone feeling like an afterthought.

Bachelorette party invitations: start with the circle, not the number

Write down every name that comes to mind. Then sort them into three circles: the bride's inner circle, your own friends, and people who will only see the photos afterwards. Be honest about that third circle—those are the ones who might feel left out if they hear about it later. If you're unsure, ask the bride to name the five people she'd call first. That's your core list.

  • One name per line: who she is, how you know her, and whether she's bringing a partner or not.
  • Write the date, time and place in one note—not across three different messages.
  • If it's a dinner at home, a table of ten changes the mood; if it's a weekend away, each bed decides.
  • Talk to the bride before inviting anyone from her work. She may not want to mix groups.

The invitation wording that doesn't offend

Skip the 'you're welcome to come if you like'. That leaves people guessing. Instead, say: 'We'd love you to be there. Here are the details.' If there are no plus-ones, don't put it in the first message. Call the person who might assume, and explain with the date and plan in front of you. Include the time, place and dress code from the start. An 'I'll let you know' creates more bad feeling than a clear no.

If someone can't make it, answer with something concrete: 'We'll miss you. I'll send photos.' And leave it. If the list is full, don't announce 'no more room' in the group. Write privately to whoever asks, and offer another date to meet up. Don't forward the message to someone the bride didn't invite. Forward only the link to those already on the list.

The guest list is a series of small decisions, not a popularity contest. Get the wording right, and everyone knows where they stand.

RSVP stops being a group chat

With a digital invitation, confirmations arrive inside the same page, in an ordered list. You don't chase replies on WhatsApp. You can set the RSVP questions to know who's coming to dinner and who's only coming for the toast. The link is shared by WhatsApp, QR code or message. Guests don't install any app—they open it in a browser and reply from their phone.

If the time or place changes, you edit the invitation and the link stays the same. No one sees an old version. You can swap a photo or change a phrase after sending. Nothing gets reprinted. It costs €29.99 per invitation, one-time payment, and it's available in Spanish, Catalan, English, French, Italian, Portuguese and German.

If you want to close the list without offending anyone and keep every confirmation in one place, a digital invitation from Send The Joy makes it easy. Start free in trial mode and publish when the list is ready.
