Baby Shower Invitations Without Photos: Ask for Privacy

No bump photos, no scan on the cover — a baby shower invitation can be private and still look good. Here's the wording, and how to change the time without resending.

No bump photos, no scan on the cover — a baby shower invitation can be private and still look good. Here's the wording, and how to change the time without resending.

The cake is cut, someone's phone comes up, and four photos are taken before you've said hello to everyone. Baby shower invitations without photos are about that moment: deciding, before the day, who gets to see what.

A shower is a private thing in a public room — a rented hall, a friend's kitchen, a corner table in a restaurant. If you'd rather keep the bump, the nursery and the baby's name off other people's feeds for now, say it early, in writing, somewhere guests actually read: the invitation itself.

You don't need a sign by the door, and you don't need to repeat yourself every time a phone appears. One line inside the invitation, sitting where the dress code would normally sit, does the job. Guests open the link days before, you say it once, and it's said before anyone is holding a camera.

  • 'Private celebration: please don't post photos.' One line, read once, done.
  • 'Share the day with us, not the photos online.' Shorter, same meaning.
  • 'If you take photos, send them to the private group.' Ask for the specific thing you want — it's easier to follow than a general 'be discreet'.
  • Surprise shower? Send the link only to the people you're inviting. The mum-to-be sees nothing until you show her.

Without a photo, the date and the names carry the cover

'Mateo · 12 April · 12:00 · at Lucia's' fills the front page as well as a scan picture would, and gives away nothing you're not ready to share.

A monogram, or the palette you picked — dusty blue with cream, sage with off-white — holds the cover just as well. Choose a design, leave the photo slot empty, and let the label and the names do the work. If you'd rather not show the nursery or the bump either, every scene can be built from text alone.

A design without photos isn't a compromise. It's deciding what gets told and what gets kept — and writing it down where everyone will see it.

Ask for privacy warmly, not with a ban

'We'd love to see you. The photos of the baby are staying with us.' That reads better than 'no posting', and you can write it word for word in the invitation's message field. If you want a clear answer rather than a hope, make it a question on the RSVP form and the reply sits in your guest list before the day.

The details that do go in — and fix themselves without a resend

Label, names, date, message, venue: one field per detail, with a character counter so 'Julia and Andres' baby shower' doesn't get cut off on a phone.

If the time moves from 12:00 to 1:00, or the venue shifts to your mum's house, you edit it and guests see the updated version at the same link. Nobody resends anything, nobody reprints anything. Confirmations arrive inside the invitation in one sorted list, so you're not chasing replies on WhatsApp two days before. Paper still has a place — one link for everyone, plus a few printed copies for whoever will keep them.

Try a design free in trial mode: you edit the cover before paying anything. At 29.99 EUR you unlock every scene, the RSVP questions and up to six photos, if one day you do want them in. Start with the privacy line — that's the part guests will read first.
