Accessible birthday invitations: nobody left outside

How to put the entrance, the accessible toilet and the parking into your birthday invitation, so nobody has to text you the night before. The link updates without a reprint.

A friend of mine uses a wheelchair. The last birthday invitation she got said “accessible venue” and stopped there, so the night before the party she was sending texts: which door do I use, is there a step, where’s the bathroom. Accessible birthday invitations would have answered all three in one line.

Nobody plans to leave a guest standing outside. It happens because a label sounds like information and isn’t. Write the entrance, the toilet and the parking the way you’d explain them on the phone, and those texts never get sent.

Accessible birthday invitations start with a street name

A guest can follow “no steps, side door on Mayor Street”. Nobody can follow “accessible venue”. The same rule applies inside the building: name the floor and name something near it, so a description turns into a direction.

  • Entrance: the street, the exact door, and whether there are steps, a ramp or a lift.
  • Accessible toilet: which floor, plus a landmark — “next to the coat check” beats “available on request”.
  • Parking: the name of the car park, the walking distance to the door, and whether spaces are reserved.
  • Public transport: line, stop, and whether that exit has a lift.

Three lines under the date and the address

Group entrance, accessible toilet and parking in three consecutive lines directly beneath the date and the venue. Not in a footer, not buried in a paragraph. On a phone, that block is the first thing anyone reads.

Name public transport with its exit: “Metro Line 2, Plaza del Pino exit, has a lift”. Give the real walking distance to the car park — 80 metres or 400. Anyone with a walking stick or thin heels plans around that number.

An accessible birthday invitation isn’t a longer invitation. It’s three lines in the right place.

If the car park closes on Thursday, nobody reprints

If the venue shuts its accessible door for building work, you edit that line and the link stays the same — whoever opens it again reads the new version. Changing the time, the place, the map or the dress code doesn’t mean resending anything or filling envelopes twice. Confirmations arrive inside the same invitation, in one ordered list, so your birthday invitation with RSVP does the chasing instead of you sending messages on WhatsApp.

The page has to be readable, not just correct

A digital birthday invitation opens in the phone’s browser with nothing to install, so anyone who reads small type can zoom in with their fingers. You can set the invitation content per language, and the site runs in Spanish, English, Catalan, French, Italian, Portuguese and German. The character counter and the instant preview keep the access block from arriving cut off or crammed on a small screen.

Before you send the link, open your draft and add the access block: the entrance, the accessible toilet, the parking. That’s the difference between a pretty invitation and one that includes everyone. Send the link to everybody and print a handful of copies for whoever will keep one — digital doesn’t print or post paper. 29.99 EUR per invitation, one payment, no subscription.
