A friend turns 30 on a Friday. The plan grows: dinner at home that night, a long lunch on Saturday, brunch on Sunday with whatever is left in the fridge. Somewhere between the third voice note and the fifth 'quick question', you stop planning a party and start running a switchboard. 30th birthday invitations are the part nobody thinks about until they are the part that is going wrong.

A digital invitation fixes most of it, but only if you build it for the weekend you are actually having. Three days, one link, answers that arrive without you asking twice. Here is what goes in it, in the order you will need it.

Three Days, Not Three Hours

The usual mistake is treating a 30th as one night. If your celebration runs Friday to Sunday, say so on the invitation itself, or people quietly book something on top of your Saturday lunch and you find out in a group chat.

  • Friday: dinner for six at home, with a playlist that opens from the same invitation link.
  • Saturday: a long lunch at one table. Nobody swaps seats, nobody checks the time.
  • Sunday: leftovers brunch at noon — same table, different tablecloth.
  • Tell the early leavers the whole plan up front, so nobody spends Sunday convinced they missed something.

What a 30th Birthday Invitation Has to Spell Out

Keep one field per detail: the label, the names, the date, the line and the place each get their own box, with a character counter so nothing gets cut off mid-sentence. If the time is missing, your phone rings at eleven at night. A map with the venue name spelled exactly as it appears above the door, plus a one-line dress code, saves twenty messages on the morning itself.

You can add up to six of your own photos — a cover plus decorative ones — and mark which one opens the invitation. A laid table beats a portrait from ten years ago, and you can swap any photo later without touching the link. Choose the colour before the typeface: terracotta and cream for Friday dinner at home, black and brass if the whole thing is a night out, olive green and wood for a garden lunch with water glasses sitting in an ice bucket. One palette, two colours at most. The photo and the light you pick do the rest. Write the brunch time in words, not just figures — noon reads better than 12:00 when someone is skimming on a phone in the sun.

A three-day plan needs an invitation that survives all three: editable, answers inside, same link.

Confirmations Without Chasing Anyone

Replies land inside the invitation as an ordered list, so the 'are you in or not?' round on WhatsApp never starts. Nobody installs anything: guests open the link in their phone browser and answer in two taps. If the restaurant moves your table, or Saturday turns from smart to come as you are, you edit it after sending and the same link shows the new version — no reprinting, no resending, no hunting for an old message. Paper still has its place, so if someone will keep the invitation in a drawer, print a few copies for them and send the link to everyone else. Build yours in an afternoon and get it out before somebody asks the time again.
